All Time Top 25 Games

  • Metroid Prime 2: Echoes#357 in All Time Favorite Games#1Metroid Prime 2: EchoesRevolution666's opinion: My all-time favorite video game, Echoes takes everything great about Metroid Prime and amps it up! As opposed to the isolated, sometimes almost bleak feel to the previous game, Echoes's atmosphere is more open and simultaneously darker. The actual gameplay hasn't changed too much, but the addition of various characters, backgrounds, and a parallel universe adds so much more to it. The puzzles have a very unique feel, as well, with the aspect of having to travel back and forth between the "Dark" and "Light" worlds. And let's not forget that this has two of the greatest locations in any video game: Torvus bog and Sanctuary Fortress. Definitely one of the most underrated games out there, even with it's positive reception.

  • Bayonetta#165 in All Time Favorite Games#6BayonettaRevolution666's opinion: If you're looking for the most insane, over-the-top, sexy, action-packed mega-epic video game ever, then Bayonetta is the game for you! The game plays very similarly to Devil May Cry (mostly because it's from the same director), with fast-paced hacking and slashing and a complex, yet not too difficult, combo system. The enemies vary greatly, and so do the monstrous boss fights, from an arena fight to a surfing battle, so it never gets boring! Bayonetta also has one of the most potentially cataclysmic stories in any video game, dealing with amnesia, Heaven & Hell, and global "rebirth". One of the craziest video games I've ever played, and recommend for anyone who wants to have tons of fun slicing and shooting baddies!

  • Bomberman Hero#1893 in All Time Favorite Games#13Bomberman HeroRevolution666's opinion: As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best video games ever made. I really don't get all of the mixed reception behind it. Sure, the levels are short, but there are so many of them, so it balances out. The gameplay is very fluid, movement is easy, and the Star Wars-influenced story is pretty awesome. I really can't find much wrong with this game, and every time I read about something wrong from someone else I can't help but refute it, and the lack of multiplayer doesn't take away from the game any, really. Also, the soundtrack is the best I've ever heard from any game ever. A vastly underrated game if there ever was any.

  • My favorite genres are RPG and action adventure, although I do like a lot of platformers and beat 'em ups/hack 'n' slashes. I'm not a huge fan of shooters or fighting games, mostly because I'm not very good at most of them and they end up boring me, but when I like one I generally like it a lot. I love music and movies along with video games, and my great love is metal music. I don't add games to my lists that I've rated below a 6.0, so some of them are closer to incomplete because of that. I mean, if I didn't find a game that good, why give it points I don't feel it deserves? Xbox gamertag: Faraoh666 Rate Your Music page: http://rateyourmusic.com/~Revolution666

Super Mario Bros.Nintendo EAD (1985)

Super Mario Bros.

Review written Sunday, September 8th, 2013 at 12:41 am.

While I wouldn't say that's one of the greatest games ever, it's definitely a fun one. Once you get into it you like to play it for a while, and while it doesn't match later games in the series (for me in particular Sunshine and the two Super Mario Worlds) it's still more than worth playing.

PongAtari (1972)

Review written Sunday, September 8th, 2013 at 12:40 am.

No, it's not the best game ever, but it is, without a doubt, one of the most important video games of all-time. I imagine that back in the early 70s that this game was pretty mind-blowing, and it's not like it's a terrible game or anything, in fact it can quite fun if you're in the right mindset for it, even if it is really easy. But denying the impact that this had on the future of video gaming is asinine, to say the least, and it deserves at least a decent rating.

Mass Effect 2BioWare (2010)

Mass Effect 2

Review written Tuesday, August 13th, 2013 at 11:32 pm.

Yes, it's a great game, but better than the first? No way. Mass Effect 2 doesn't offer the same amount of sheer exploration, it's combat system is remarkably inferior with so much taken away, it's WAY too easy to get both paragon and renegade points and sometimes you get both at one moment, and it's largely mission based, which limits many things in the long run. It's just way too much of a shooter this time around to be the best in the series, with too much RPG stripped away. On the other hand, galaxy travel is smoother (though awkward), you get a more diverse team, the interactive paragon/renegade actions in cut scenes are really cool, and the main story is much longer. Overall, it is certainly great, but it doesn't touch the first

Altered BeastSega AM1 (1988)

Altered Beast

Review written Sunday, August 11th, 2013 at 06:42 pm.

Altered Beast is one of those games I like to call a "pseudo-legend"; that is, it's a game that has legendary status to it, but it isn't nearly as well received as it could be. At first it's a slow, marginally fun beat 'em up with some slight humour in the fact that the guy keeps growing when you pick up power ups...except for his head. But everything changes once you turn into the werewolf, where you proceed to go berserk and just plow through EVERYTHING. So while most of the time the game is worth about a 6.0, as the wolf it's a solid 8.0, which brings my rating for this to a generously balanced 7.0.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2Infinity Ward (2009)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Review written Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 at 10:42 pm.

Gets a decent rating mostly because the local multiplayer can be incredibly fun, especially when you're the only one who has a rocket launcher. ;) But it's still a Call of Duty game, so there's not much else that's special about it and it's quite overrated, I think. Just not my kind of game.

Bubble Bath Babes

It's a cheap, upside down Tetris knock-off...with boobs...there really isn't much else to say about it. Oh wait, yeah there is! Don't play it. ¬_¬

Custer's Revenge may be the worst video game ever made, but Ballz 3D isn't far behind. The controls are difficult and clunky, there's no variety in the moves (a FEW special attacks can be pulled off, but how is a mystery), and the "humor" is less than toilet bowl. The only way you can really do anything is by button mashing, and the only character that can get you anywhere is Boomer, and even if you follow those instructions it's not a promise that you'll accomplish. The music isn't any good here either, being some weird, low grade electronic farting crap. The only positive is that it's infinitely less complicated than Street Fighter or Marvel vs. Capcom, but at the cost of all quality that those games do have.

Clash at DemonheadVic Tokai (1989)

Clash at Demonhead

Review written Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 at 06:02 am.

Played this one mostly because of its reference in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, but it wasn't a disappointing play! It can be difficult to actually hit some of the enemies, and sometimes you find yourself in dead ends or seemingly impossible to get out of situations, but the actual gameplay is very fun and it's always a good one to go back to just for the hell of it.

QixTaito (1981)

Review written Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 at 05:27 am.

Well...it's an interesting game, that's for sure. In Qix, you must draw lines inside the big square with your little dot to claim your territory before the other little dots get you and without letting the crazy, colourful line inside the square touch yours. It's a bit of fun on the first couple of tries once you've figured out what the hell to do, but your dot moves incredibly slow and is unable to properly avoid the other dots that come at you. Qix is definitely unique, and perhaps is perfect for someone who's looking for a more oddball and abstract puzzle game, but its lasting playability is very limited and it gets quite old rather quickly.

LemmingsDMA Design (1991)

Review written Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 at 04:24 am.

On one hand, Lemmings is a cute, fun, and innovative pseudo-god game/proto-RTS that is challenging and tons of fun. On the other, Lemmings is the most cruel and evil video game ever conceived by mankind. Its increasingly difficult levels call for timing and strategy by using commands to lead the helpless Lemmings to their safe destination. Often times they leave you with having to consciously leave behind and sacrifice a small number of the little guys in order to pave a path through the designers' sadistic creations, which include fire and acid pits, crushing pillars, bear traps, and messages written in blood. The case doesn't lie when it says you'll experience loss of sanity, hair, and sleep; this IS the ultimate rage game!
