CivWorldFiraxis Games (2011)

Review written Friday, July 29th, 2011 at 10:37 am.

Sort of like a dumbed down version of the normal civ games, yet extremely addictive and fun none the less. Games can take weeks to complete, and even though you don't need to visit the game more than once a day to check on progress and do a few things here and there, if you really want to get your nation ahead, there are several things to do (various mini games to be completed). Each nation is made up of up to 16 (currently) players with ranks from king, princes, various ministers, and right down to peons. You can initiate votes to invade other nations and a whole lot of other things. The game itself is - as with any civ game - easy to learn, and hard to master. Give it a go. If you're into civilization games, you'll likely love it.

What essentially started out as a glorified space mining game has turned into the beast it is today. Beautiful, complex, larger than life. You can truly be whatever you desire in this game. Notorious pirate, avid trader, peaceful miner, and even ruler of a powerful empire making decisions which will impact thousands of players. It's all there. It's all possible. One huge world with thousands of players interacting. This game is truly a sandbox where anything goes and anything is possible. The expansions are frequent and always free. Politics, complex market, grudges held for years, invasions. This game has it all! If you can get past the steep learning curve, you'll love it. Just remember you're not safe anywhere. Try it out...

One of the best tower defense games out there. Easy to learn, hard to master. The game has lots of different challenges apart from story mode (grinder, resource cap, max amount of towers, etc. etc.), and apart from in-game medals there are also steam/xbox achievements and leaderboards. Coupled with good graphics and 4 dlc packs and free extra maps, it's enough to keep you entertained for at least 30 hours, making it my top pick in the tower defense category.

Fallout: New Vegas

A worthy addition to the fallout universe. Plenty of interesting places to visit. In my play-through I didn't go to the strip until after the 40 hour mark had come and gone. You can really get lost exploring in this game. And that's a good thing! However as with all Bethesda/Obsidian games there are TONS of bugs. You get stuck everywhere, your companions get stuck in perma combat mode (making the game unplayable since you can't talk to anyone), the sound clips, and so on. It's even worse than it was in Fallout 3. The game froze more times than I can count, and as a result I had to reboot the xbox. One of the times my savegame even got corrupt.. Despite all the bugs though, I loved every second of the 70+ hours I spent on the game.

I played this game about 6 months ago on the iPad, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience it provided. It's really a case of going back to basics, but where the basics work as intended. I can wholeheartedly recommend grabbing this game. It's well worth the price...

I love this game. By far my favorite game for the iPad, and the best tower defense game I've ever played. It's extremely addictive and a ton of fun. If you only get 1 game for the iOS, get this one!

This game rekindled my love for the RTS genre. The AI is fantastic, and the gameplay is simply great.

Without a doubt the fastest racing game ever made. And the graphics were pretty sweet back in 2001 as well. The game got a bit repetitive after a while, but the pure sense of speed kept you going. One of my favorite racing games of all time to be sure!

One of my favorite xbox original games to be sure. The singleplayer campaign was top notch, and the multiplayer part was a blast as well. I wish they'd do a remake of this game with current gen graphics...
