Similar to the PlayStation story, Nintendo refused a collaboration with HudsonSoft - which resulted in a competing home console called the PC Engine (aka TurboGrafx-16 in NA). Never officially released in PAL territories, the machine was planned to compete against the Famicom in Japan - even with remarkably large success. But it set the 4th Generation of gaming in motion, only to get caught up in the war between the SNES and Sega MegaDrive. The PC Engine was the world's first console to feature an optional CD-ROM peripheral; though the CD-library was growing slowly. One of its twelve model designs was also the physically smallest home console of the world - all that although lacking a second controller port!
