Trust me, when you start blasting along the track at 1000+ km/h, you'll love it. The soundtrack was also amazing, with classic pieces of music from the Mute City and Big Blue courses ending up in Smash Bros. Overall, the game is fast-paced and fun.

High octane thriller action, this is without doubt the fastest racing game around, also possessing over the top and hilariously awesome physics. It's soundtrack stands as one of the best in gaming and it's got a huge selection of racers, some of which are incredibly hard to unlock. The tracks themselves are pretty memorable and different from each other. The feel and controls are great even considering the not so great N64 controller, being able to increase momentum while flying through the skies at top speed is great. If you like the idea of going 1000mph and slamming racers off the track while an excited announcer shuts YEAH!!! then this is the racing game for you

For some reason it's kinda boring for a game where you're going like 1000 mph, but bonus points for some really good visuals (in a plain geometric sorta way) and music. One song even tries to emulate death metal.

The word for today is bias. I like to think I can look at games objectively in most cases. This is not one of those cases. F-Zero X was the first game I had ever played and it's always stuck with me. The soundtrack and graphics are nothing special (Although Mute City and Big Blue are catchy) but the racing is fast and furious. The tracks are expertly designed and the X Cup was a great idea. Attacking other cars in this game isn't totally suicidal like it is in the other games and it's incredibly satisfying to see the stars line up on the side. Incredibly solid racing game through and through. Maybe the best. Scratch that. It is the best.

People always seem to recall Wipeout from this era, but I always liked F-Zero much more. Graphics aren't great but it's definitely fast.

I don't much care for racing games, but this one is kind of remarkable. It's fast, and fun, and while the scenery is pretty minimal, it has a distinct look. Good soundtrack too. Everyone claims GX is better, but GX's courses are probably twice as long, and most of them are pretty dull for the most part. I don't want 10 second straightaways! Give me X any day.

While the first F-Zero was a tech demo, this one is actually a decent racing game for the N64.
