Players run, jump and battle enemies as they explore all the planets in the galaxy. Since this game makes full use of all the features of the Wii Remote, players have to do all kinds of things to succeed: pressing buttons, swinging the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk, and even pointing at and dragging things with the pointer. Since he's in space, Mario can perform mind-bending jumps unlike anything he's done before.

Latest Microreviews on Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy Review written Wednesday, June 1st, 2016 at 03:34 pm.

A lot of people would call this the best game of all time. I wouldn't. It's a near flawless platformer though and I prefer it to Super Mario 64 and Sunshine. Story is a big thing to me so saving the princess from Bowser doesn't really cut it. If you're a big fan of platforming and good video game design in general you can't go wrong with this, it's impossible.

Super Mario Galaxy features outstanding level design that takes advantage of this game's unique physics engine. I have no idea how they programmed all the gravity related stuff in this game, but they did it very well, making this the most innovative 3D Mario game other than Super Mario 64. It's staggering how much this game does right, and it's all tied together by a cool overworld, a phenomenal soundtrack and some truly stunning visuals. For this reason, Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite Mario game of all time. It has the best music in a Mario game, the best graphics in a Mario game (or second best - Yoshi's Island looks awesome) and the best gameplay in a Mario game.

Super Mario Galaxy is the greatest Mario game of all time. The concept of travelling to the different themed planets as Mario, facing familiar and new enemies in fantastic environments is what makes this game what it is. The hub world on Rosalina's ship is great to explore and for once a main Mario game actually has a decent story to it. The space and gravitational aspects of Galaxy, running around the spherical planets and experiencing the most innovative and creative Mario games of all time is what I strongly remember. I am not usually bothered my visuals in games and can see the greatness in game's for their game-play not their aesthetics, although you cannot ignore the beauty of this game in the world design and the music too.

Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo is and has always been the beloved franchise creators that I grew up and bonded with, and Mario games were no exception. Super Mario Galaxy is stunning. The first couple minutes of gameplay immediately show you that you are in for an epic journey across the cosmos. With representation of classic, and new Mario game mechanics such as some side scrolling sequences, there is so much to be done in this title. If you find yourself bored of a game, Super Mario Galaxy has an astonishing 242 levels of gameplay, each level lasting approximately 5-10 minutes. The graphics are gorgeous for the Wii console, the game runs 60FPS constantly, and the soundtrack is awesome. I don't know how this game could go wrong. 10/10

A throwback to the old days, when being fun was all that mattered. Fun colorful graphics and epic memorable music. Huge variety in levels and many types of gameplay One of the best games ever and full of imagination

The level design is just perfect, in addition to the atmosphere, scale, flow, pacing, graphics and overall adventure. Galaxy envelops you in a grand world (or galaxy) of ideas and reality and merges the two with the classic Mario perfection IN SPACE! Just barely misses No.1 for me!

The level designs were the vibrant design that we saw in Mario 64. The atmosphere was fantastic. The Wiimote was beneficial, rather than a hindrance. Just a fantastic game.

This has been a hard fight between Mario Galaxy 1, 2, and Sunshine. I had to ultimately go with Galaxy though. The originality, the bosses and the perfected level design is something we haven't seen since this title's release. I t's a light-hearted adventure that brings me back to being a kid again.
