Latest Microreviews on Super Mario 3D Land

Super Mario 3D Land Review written Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 at 08:56 pm.

Not a huge Mario platformer fan but you can't deny this is one of the most well made games on the 3DS. Every aspect of this game just oozes polish, from the controls to the level design to the graphics. The 3D effect is genuinely useful and can be aesthetically amazing at times too. The sound is top notch too and the attention to detail and flourish put into this game is pretty incredible. Amazing mix of 2D and 3D Mario that every Mario fan will go crazy for. Game is insanely long for a handheld Mario title, with tons of collectables and stuff like that for completionists to get even more out of the game. So yeah to sum up, Mario platformers with no story don't really do it for me but this shit is too good to pass up.

This is, without a doubt, a Mario game. There's little more that needs to be said. The game can be a little too easy at times and the 3D gimmicks get old quickly, but if you're a fan of Mario, you'll like the game.

Super Mario 3D Land does everything right. The difficulty is challenging, and sometimes hardcore, without alienating casual players. The level design is as good as the Galaxy games. The graphics are 3D, and on par with the Galaxy games. Mario controls as smooth as ever. There isn't much else to say. Another Nintendo classic!

Ever wondered what a 2D Mario would be like in 3D? Well here it is. Nintendo proves time and time again they're the leaders of game design and this game certainly does not disappoint. It was the first 3DS game to truly wow me and exemplify how the unique 3D effect can really enhance a game. The game's rather short but it's packed with a ton of bonus content - the true game doesn't start until the special worlds.

This is like the spiritual sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3. There are a ton of references to that game, but this game manages to stand on its own and combine the best aspects of the 2D classics and the 3D currents.

Yes, the first quest is easy. Yes, the Tanooki Suit is perhaps a little overused. And yes, it isn't the most innovative Mario game of all time either. But you know what? Super Mario 3D Land, despite the aforementioned criticisms, is still an absolute classic and the first must-own for the 3DS. If I had to point out the true spiritual successor to Mario 64, I'd say this game is for sure the most like my all-time favorite game. The gameplay is perfect, the 3D is well-utilized, and the visuals are excellent. Level design is some of the best I've seen in a long time and the music perfectly compliments the vibe. The fact that this game was made specifically to cheer up the people of Japan after the earthquake speaks volumes about its quality.

Great game, it's a good reason to buy a 3DS.

A mario game that gets surprisingly challenging later on with nearly as much variation as SMG2. Looks great with max 3D which I never wanted to turn off. Nostalgic with it's NES references and the first great original game on 3DS
