- Though there's a select few tracks that are pretty forgettable, the soundtrack for the majority of the time is flawless and extremely memorable. When you hear the 1st stage's music, you usually always identify it as a Castlevania song. That means it's really good. - It's 2D gaming at it's finest. The artstyle in this game is both unique and captivating for it's 90's release date. This is probably one of, if not "the" most smooth looking 2D game on the SNES. - I won't lie to you; I rarely play this game anymore today, It's probably due to the fact that it's a fairly good sized game without any immediate saving options. Whenever I do play it, though? It's still a great experience, even today.

Most people consider this to be the best classic Castlevania platformer ever made, and while I disagree, I can see why. For my money though, the best Castlevania experience goes to Castlevania 3. Many don't like how in the originals, you had to commit to a jump arc, but it feels like the game was designed around it in Castlevania 3, and the first for that matter. The fourth one gave the player more control, but I don't think Castlevania 3 needed it. Still, Super Castlevania remains an excellent Castlevania game, and one of the greatest. One of the few problems is that the game still has sub weapons but they're now useless because of how powerful Simon is. Other than that, there aren't too many flaws in the game.

For years when I was a kid this was my all-time favorite game. It was the second game I owned for the Snes besides Super Mario World which came with the Snes. Super Castlevania IV blew my mind at that time. I'd never seen anything like it before. Spinning stages, interesting bosses, each passing stage gave you something new to say "AH" about. My favorite part & many, many agree is the music! My God! I'll go on record to say it's not only the best Castlevania soundtrack...Yes even better than SOTN. It could be the best soundtrack to ever grace a videogame period & I have heard alot. The music is chilling. The gameplay is smooth as silk & Dracula IS the hardest battle in this game. I'm proud to call it my second favorite Snes game ever.

Good controls, amazing music and the difficulty makes it the best Castlevania game ever made! and also my favorite game of all-time! I never liked Symptomy of the night that much anyway...

They put jazz in the atlantis level, complete with synthesized flute soloing. That's how you know a series is still fresh and left-field.

My favorite Castlevania after Symphony of the Night. This one didn't have all the RPG jazz and all the style of what SotN would bring. It was stripped down, traditional platforming at its finest, refining and improving upon everything the already very solid Dracula's Curse left us with on the NES. One of the most enjoyable soundtracks on the Super NES, as well. Very challenging, as one would expect.

I've said it before - the 8-way whip takes away more than it adds to the classic formula, making this a less than stimulating experience for the first 5 or so levels which contain easily fooled enemy AI and safe spots everywhere. Later on the game ramps up the difficulty mainly through frustrating platforming and enemy placements, requiring some intense memorization. Don't get me wrong though, I still love SCIV, but more so for its presentation and soundtrack than its gameplay.

It's a great game. It's basically the same as all the previous Castlevanias, but with improved graphics.
