  • As a member of the Alliance, a military force, you play the unwitting hero of the game: an orphan who has been raised by a quiet, unassuming battle hero in a seemingly ancient war. Alongside you in the ranks is your best friend Jowy, a boy born of nobility but who has never been able to receive approval in his stubborn father's eyes. As the game begins, you are immediately tossed into a tale of political strife, betrayal and war on a grand scale beyond your scope in the early stages.

10Classic!

To me, this is the best RPG I have ever played. 108 characters to recruit with most of them you can play as and you can mix your party up with them to experiment for a good six party team, a great story with complex characters and a great theme of war, a beautiful soundtrack, and expressive spritework. Only downside is that a physical copy is expensive since its one of the rarest PS1 games available. You can grab it on PSN for five dollars or so though if you want a digital copy. A must play for people who love JRPGs.

108 Freaking chracters!! almost all of them are playable in battle! just as the game started you immediately tossed into the story of betrayal, political strife, and war. great turn-based battle, with runes and combined party attacks to make it better. play this game, and you would not ask more from a jp-rpg.

9.5Classic!

Suikoden 2 had fixed all the features that were lacking in Suikoden, better visuals, gameplay, story, more interesting characters and soundtrack. Along with that a variety of characters from Suikoden make an appearance, so if you had your save file from Suikoden you could transfer them for stats boost to all the returning characters and recruit the protagonist from the first game. This feature was my favorite addition to the game cause you got to use all your favorite characters from the previous game with all their glory. I also liked the increase in difficulty to recruit characters because that was something which was extremely easy to do in Suikoden. So in conclusion I can't recommend this game enough, cause it's really a phenomenal game.

9.5Classic!

Suikoden II is the best JRPG of all time, as it has everything you'd want out of a JRPG and excels at the most important points: Amazing and very emotional story, badass villain, awesome music, beautiful 2D-graphics, interesting characters(108 of them), great fighting system, many side-quests and secrets, multiple endings and choices, a lot of mini-games, a whole Strategy-RPG-Part and you're motherf*ing king of a castle.

10Classic!

I've always said regarding Suikoden 2 that I truly wish it weren't worth so much money. Everyone really should be able to play this absolute masterpiece and it's a shame that the price tag usually attached to it will typically keep people from seeking out this absolutely perfect JRPG gem.

9.0Fantastic

I loved this game, but I might be in the minority when I say I liked #1 more. This game is a great follow up to the first though. The story is epic and the game did not lose its character development that made it so great the first time. The improvements to the "castle", bath tub, the cooking game side story and gardening/fishing are great strides forward. On the other hand, the war/battle system is terrible. My biggest concern about this game was, all the wars were predetermined, you rarely actually fought out the battle to the end. Also, you could create your units, but they all behaved the same regardless of how you organized them once the battle started.
