9.0Fantastic

I thought the gameplay/shooting wasn't really bad, not great, but gets too tiring to replay specially in higher difficulties. The setting and sights you see are amazing and horrific, very good graphically/artistically, makes you wonder from the beginning. Play the demo to see if it interests you, I beg you. The whole writing, dialogue, story and its twists, all the "dissonance", really works here, even though it can have many interpretations, I felt it was Bioshock Infinite done right in terms of narrative effect on the player! Not nihilistic: still feels like your choices DO matter. Also the shooting is about the same. Considering all that it's very underrated. I guess you need hype and expensive disney-like cinematics to get praise.

Do you like happy quirky games with lots of wit and humor. Do you like call of duty and its mind numbing story. Do you like enjoying your life. if any of these apply to you turn away because its not the game for you. a game that makes you answer the question am i a good human being. the game TEACHES YOU WHEN YOUR TRYING TO TAKE DOWN THE BAD GUYS ARE YOU YOURSELF THE BAD guy. good plot boring game play.

8.5Fantastic

Many people have said the gameplay to this game is mediocre, yet I found it to be above average, well paced, thrilling, engaging and a bit strategic. While the story is by no means revolutionary, its serves as a great counter-argument to games series Call of Duty and Battlefield that glorify war and American interventionism. Instead it presents an alternative where no side in a war is wholly decent and even best intentions can devolve into great harm. It's a war game with an important moral message. All in all, a very worthy recommendation for someone who is both a fan of shooters and wants a game that will provoke thought on political affairs.

9.5Classic!

The horror..... The horror..... Ya i am going to be biased to this game because it is loosely based around the same premise of my favorite movie Apocalypse Now, Spec Opes is an alright third person shooter with an epic story which almost feels unfair with its choices some said "the only way to "win" Spec Opes the Line is to turn it off 10 minuets in" which is sorta true but it is such a interesting experience, give it a try sometime if you haven't.

This game has teeth. Your brain, your ethics, your self-image, are all chewtoys. Change is not a possibility, it is a necessary and direct result. Less a narrative for the sake of it, and more a mirror for you to ponder your own reflection, twisted and distorted by this gory blend of interactive story and gameplay. You. Will. Question.

Spec Ops tells an astonishingly bleak tale of Cpt. Walker?s descent into the heart of Dubai and the tale of how you?re a horrible person. Not many games can change the way you see the world, but Spec Ops does it perfectly.

Uninteresting, 3rd person cover based shooting with a story that beats you down to a mess of bones, then blames it on you for not resisting enough

The antithesis of Call of Duty, Spec Ops: The Line presents a dark and mature military story surrounding civilian casualties and PTSD, wrapped up with fantastic voice acting and graphics.

"Spec Ops: The Line" - yet another military shooter? Yes. And no. If franchises like "Battlefield", "Call of Duty" or "Medal of Honor" are like Michael Bay's "Pearl Harbor" - with their gimmickry and cheap drama - "The Line" is probably the "Apocalypse Now" of war games. It has got its share of smaller issues: Similar to "Far Cry 3", some of the genre tropes do get in the way of the narrative. Also, the controls could have used some fine-tuning. Still, if you want to play a military shooter with a dark and mature and morally ambiguous plot, look no further.
