Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Review written Thursday, June 6th, 2013 at 11:42 pm.

Much different than other games in the series Silent Hill: Shattered Memories really is a physiological experience. The game doesn't have combat, when monsters appear you have to run, and it makes the game much more frightening, though the fact they're always foreshadowed by ice is disappointing as it eliminates tension and makes the game not very scary. Also the game basically punishes you for exploring when it comes to it's multiple endings. But aside from these caveats the game is great, there's a big world to explore that's not entirely linear a great changeable story (the game watches what you do and changes the game based on it) and fun simple puzzles. It's short but has a lot of replayability. Definitely worth playing

An atmospheric and interesting attempt at a Silent Hill remake, but unfortunately nothing more. Playing it feels like watching those Hollywood remakes of Japanese horror movies - for all the gimmicks, trickery and the occasional attempt at a homage to the original, part of me feels that they just don't get it. Lack of subtlety, a plot twist you can see coming a mile off, the only positive aspect being that Shattered Memories tries to do something new with the series, the same way The Room attempted it and was (in my opinion) a step in the right direction, before Homecoming came along and took thirty steps backwards to the point where it was almost a Silent Hill parody. In any case, sometimes it's better to just let a good thing die.

If you're into this sort of game, I say play it. It's good enough that I imagine fans of the genre will enjoy it.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Review written Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 at 01:10 am.

This strange entry into the Silent Hill saga masquerades as a remake of the original, although in reality they look, feel and play nothing alike. There's nothing wrong with that though, as this game ends up feeling like the most unique, far removed experience of any of the games in the series. There are some brilliant mechanics at work here, like psychologically profiling the player- I just wished it was pulled off a bit more smoothly. The biggest problem with this game is that it isn't very scary and focuses entirely on puzzle solving, as opposed to combat. In the end, It's still a recommendable game because of its sheer uniqueness.

A modern day Silent Hill 2, totally underrated, I was able to relate to the main plot in this game, so it really tugged my heart strings, the ending was utterly shocking and very clever.
