Latest Microreviews on Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus Review written Saturday, December 19th, 2015 at 12:12 am.

The most incredible thing about SOTC is the fact that the game doesn't have a complex story, characters, or even a lot of things to be done, you only need to do one thing, but that thing was done in a marvelous way. No other game can provide the feelings that shadow can. And another thing that surprises me is the number of people involved in its development, how a very small number of people could make such a masterpiece. So, I'd say my final score is 10/10, the best game ever done, in my opinion.

An absolute masterpiece, stunning visuals and breathtaking gameplay.

After they made ICO, Team ICO decided to make a prequel! That prequel is called Shadow of the Colossus, and it is phenomenal. You get to climb big stompy monster things and stab them in the scrotum. How is that not great? Oh, and there is a plot in there somewhere. And a heartwrenching ending, for some reason. Get it on PS3, though. Getting it on PS2 is like trying to stick your dick in a Cheerio.

Of course, as a lover of artsy video games, the inclusion of Shadow of the Colossus was an obligatory addition to this list and rightfully so. The minimalist approach to gaming seen in this game makes Shadow of the Colossus one of the most unique games I've ever played, and it has an epic soundtrack to boot. Based on sheer creativity, artsiness, and uniqueness, Shadow of the Colossus ranks pretty high on my list.

The most overrated game in existence. I managed to finish it, but i couldn't give game a second chance to play. Don't believe to masses, story is really stupid, gameplay wise as most have said the controls suck, it is all graphics and sound make the difference. Hovever can graphics and sound justify the greatness of a game? I don't think so.

One of those games that everyone points to as being a masterpiece and exhibit A in the "why video games are art" argument, Shadow of the Colossus is definitely unlike any other game you have ever played before in terms of presentation and mood. The mystery of this barren landscape beckons for the player to set forth and explore. Each colossus you encounter has a unique weakness and fighting style that you must take the time to become acquainted with and then take the initiative and kill the beast on your own. And while the feeling of accomplishment is grand, you are always wondering until the very end of the game why you are really doing this.

this game puts humankinds ego into perspective. you look up at the first fight and its 100x bigger than you. but 15 mins later your bathing in blood of your enemies. best character death ever. top notch

Shadow of the Colossus is simply epic. Whenever I think of the most epic game I've ever played, this game always comes to mind. What you must do is simple - explore the land and kill all the colossi. Each colossus is very different from the other. All of them are huge. Some fly, some swim, and others are on land. While I love Shadow of the Colossus, the controls take some time getting used to. Also, there are certain times when it's a bit difficult to find where you are supposed to go to find certain colossi. With that said, none of these gripes are big deals. This is truly one of those must play games for any Playstation fan.
