The best game in the series, but RB2 and LRB are more nostalgic for me.

I've easily spent the most money on this game (if nothing else). I've logged a few hundred dollars in DLC, about a $500 drum set (still wearing down pads that need replacing and still improving said kit), 3 guitars (around $50 a piece), a keyboard (around $60), and a mic (around $40). The graphics aren't amazing (yet, still pretty good). But, the main thing is the original gameplay. There really aren't a lot of rhythm games out there and there are even fewer that are worth your time. But, Rock Band 3 gives you a perfect blend of realism and fun with enough options to keep you interested for a long time.

The greatest music game of all time, period. If you import the tracks from RB1 and 2 as well as utilize Harmonix's extensive online network of songs, it easily has the greatest song list in gaming history. Beyond that, adding keyboards and pro instruments expands the variety of gameplay far beyond any other music game. And even more, this game will actually teach you to play an instrument if you're willing to take the time and patience to learn. It's just a shame the whole music genre took a downward sales turn as this game came out.

With the unfortunate turn of the music genre as of late Harmonix has yet again proved that they know still how to do the rhythm based genre. Starting with titles like amplitude to Guitar Hero and eventually creating the only rhythm genre game that's a competitor and succeeding over Guitar Hero with the creation of Rock Band it is no surprise that Rock Band 3 is the best of the genre. Albeit some small problems (Timing change, some previously dlc is inaccessible) overall they have yet again jumped leaps and bounds over it's competition and have made the most accessible rhythm game of this generation whether you like drums, guitar, bass, vocals, or even keyboard. Enough to keep anyone busy, especially considering the lengthy extent or DLC.

The best music game on earth. Why? It really lets you feel like you're in a band, with all instruments you can imagine, even keyboards. And if that wasnt enough it lets you play and teaches you how to play real guitar. Well, and to top it all, developer HMX still releases new songs every week. What can a music fan want more?

Solid Music game...

Rock Band 3 Review written Thursday, March 31st, 2011 at 05:54 pm.

The most varied entry in the best multiplayer game ever. More than a game, it's a great way to experience music, familiar and new. Despite adding even more features and ways to play it still comes short of RB2 imo. The setlist, while containing as many hits as any Rock Band game, doesn't have as many great deeper cut selections that made the second's fantastic. Also the game is unfortunately more unstable than it should be, especially playing online, more than a year after release and patches it still crashes occasionally, especially when playing online. Those frustrations aside, it's still arguably the best music-genre game ever created, don't let those details or the fact that music game "fad" is over stop you from picking this up.
