Resident Evil (2002) Review written Friday, January 9th, 2015 at 11:25 pm.

To me comparing the original PS1 version of RE to the 2002 gamecube version is like comparing the original Street Fighter II to Super Street Fighter II: Turbo. Capcom did an outstanding job enhancing & expanding almost every aspect to it's peak. The "Crimson Head Zombies" are a particular favorite. By the time in the game where you have to go back into the mansion WATCH OUT!! They'll chase you like the zombies in 28 Days Later. Truthfully it's among the most scared i've ever been in a videogame. I hear Capcom is going to do yet another Remake soon for the new generation of consoles. I have no doubt it will be awesome! Until then for me this is the best RE i've ever played. I have a feeling the legacy will continue for many moons...

Resident Evil Remake is a successful game in its right. It offers a 70% different game experience than original '96 game, offering many locations not seen before, plotwise makes most clear some holes the original had and gameplaywise has quite good addictions, over all burning corpses. Graphics are extraordinary, shadows and lighting are used to great effect boosting tension. Sound is so sweet, no more corny voices and stupid dialogues. The possibilities game offers once finished are noteworthy: complete game with jill and with Chris and you have access to REAL SURVIVAL (the boxes work separately) making game consistently most diffcult because you have to put strategy on your actions. One Dangerous zombie and Invisible mode are nice stuff.

"Ho boy, now we're really getting started..." Ok, so...For the record: This game deserves a much better score than the one I'm giving it right now...but you have to understand: I do my lists based on the games that stick to my memories most. And while this game DOES stick to my memories (quite fondly actually...) it just doesn't stick to me like the third game in the original Resident Evil trilogy series did. Even with it's much more superior graphics, story, music, and overall presentation? This game just can't get any higher than this on my Top 25 Games of All-Time list. Rating games isn't easy, because I'll admit. There's a lot of good ones out there...but ya gotta do what you can, yeah? This one gets a 7/10. It's worth a play

With a fitting OST and the incredible pre-rendered backgrounds from the good ol devs at Capcom, this is the definitive version of the original survivor horror masterpiece. The mansion acts as one huge puzzle and the game certainly keeps the horror vibe at full force thanks to that. The controls may feel a bit stiff at first but like anything else you get used to them as the game progresses. It's still to date one of the best entries in the Resident Evil franchise and the best starting point for any newcomers to the series.

Resident Evil (2002) Review written Sunday, December 2nd, 2012 at 08:37 pm.

Arguably one of the best resident evil's in the series. The atmosphere of the mansion and the level designs of the areas really add to the survival horror feel of the game. Entering a new room and finding zombies, and herbs is compelling and kept me playing through the wee hours of the morning until I looked like a zombie myself. For the most part, I'll admit, I was scared out of mind playing this because things would happen when I least expected them to. That sense of uncertainty and a lack of security that it leaves you with however in my mind is what makes this game so beautiful. Capcom makes it clear from the very start that you're never safe when you play this game. Tick.. tock.. tick.. tock..

The remake of the original Resident Evil is the model of a survival horror game--it's scary and looks great graphically. Everything from the original game was improved upon, from the characters to the design of the mansion and to the overall atmosphere. It was cinematic and just beautiful in every way :D

The classic was re-borned! One of the best remakes that the world ever saw, this game is better than its old version. Pretty CGs, graphics above average, catchy story, even to current days. Capcom did right when they decided re-make this game and brought to Nintendo Game Cube, that at the time was the most powerful system.

I really love the original RE for its trashy b-movie appeal but the GC-version is probably the best remake of a game I have ever played.
