Latest Microreviews on Psychonauts

Psychonauts Review written Sunday, December 1st, 2013 at 08:18 am.

Although Psychonauts is a little tricky to figure out, the whole environment is brilliant. It feels like a living, breathing world full of wacky jokes. Although it works well as a platformer, the game does a better job at immersing people into an artistic, demented universe. The creator, Tim Schafer, did an amazing job. He helped make one of the most unique landscapes for people to roam freely in.

This game's concept is absolutely brilliant, with some really ingenious level design. While it is classed as a platformer, it is so many other brilliant things at the same time. It is absolutely hilarious at times, and contains some of my favourite levels in all videogames; Milkman Conspiracy and Lungfishopolis being two of them. The bosses are great too, and it has a really good soundtrack. It also has some puzzle and adventure elements, fitted in perfectly.

"Psychonauts" is an awesome 3D platformer brimming with brilliant ideas and a droll sense of humour. As Razputin, boy wonder and soon-to-be psychic secret agent, you enter the minds of other people to - quite literally - fight their inner demons, remove mental cobwebs and sort out emotional baggage. It is the perfect excuse for any outlandish and fantastic level designs, and the game exploits this situation to its full potential. Not to mention the witty script, charming characters and countless little jokes. This game is a true gem.

One of the best Jump'n Runs out there. Art-style, Humor, Story and a limitless and twisted creativity come together to make an instant Classic.

It's an amazing experience from double fine productions, one of those few games that make you laugh HARD. Only downside to this game is the plaftforming, it can be a pain in sometimes, this is demonstrated at the last level of this game

An engrossing, funny, somewhat challenging, and inventive platformer with a unique and quirky story. This game is fun regardless of age. A truly special game you'll want to come back to again and again. With a distinctive art style, almost Burton-esq in appearance, smooth and responsive controls, and a design that constantly shift the theme and style of the game without breaking the forth wall or its own internal consistency, this is a game unlike any other that I thoroughly recommend to anyone. Newcomers and even detractors of the genre will likely find enjoyment with this game. A well deserved 10/10, and my #1 game of all time.

One of the best mixtures of funny and serious along with some great gameplay

Psychonauts Review written Friday, March 8th, 2013 at 11:14 am.

I really want them to make a Psychonauts 2 because this games was one of the most delightful game experiences ever. It's actual gameplay is maybe a wee bit dated now but the story, the characters and the humour are some of Tim Schafer's finest. This game is famous for its really quirky and vibrant colour scheme and character designs. Everything is stylised in a really unique cartoony way that looks like it was ripped straight from a Nickelodeon cartoon and I've never seen another video game try and emulate this style. It added to the trippy psycho-crazy levels you played as you entered people's minds. In fact the game's artstyle changed depending on the person's mind. Also who IS the milkman?
