The battle system is ingenious and the game is really exciting Id love to play this on the Saturn to see how it compares.

This is not a game. It is true adventure, formed into two electronic disks. I watched the whole game on YouTube before playing it, and unlike any other game I watched before, this was the one I desperately needed to hold in my hands. And as I got it, the adventure is just as compelling as it was when I watched it. The characters are incredibly colourful, the story is excellent, the music is some of the best I've ever heard, and I can't think of a single game design sin that a lot of other role-playing games, that even today, conform to that this one doesn't, such as random encounters. This is the game that makes me want to become a character/ concept designer so that I too can create fond memories for kids that will play my games.

Amazing game, immersive story and characters everything about it drew me in as a child and now at almost 18 i'm still playing it and still laugh at every punchline and cry at each emotional moment. The blend of 2D sprites and 3D enviroments along with really well thought out enviroments creates a beautiful and truly original game here :)

This game is definetly worth trying. The graphics are incredibly unique and there's a lot of charm. Under the cutesiness resides an interesting maturity. But I just didn't enjoy the combat system. It's too easy and simple like Chrono Trigger.

Grandia is one of those well-loved B-list JRPGs that is still worth trying. The voice acting isn't very good and the story and characters aren't personally enduring like the Lunar games (YMMV) but the battle system is simply one of the best turn-based system ever the appear in a game, offering lots of strategy.
