Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City Review written Saturday, August 30th, 2014 at 09:22 pm.

7.0Good

The small improvements to an already great game, the expansion packs to GTA 4 were fun and addictive, add in the mind blowing mission that you play from the angles of Johnny and Louis, and if you own GTA 4 Niko, hours of fun in a living breathing world were only to be shadowed by the amazing sequel GTA V

8.5Fantastic

Putting it above GTA IV simple because I haven't been playing this for the story and GTA IV has more weapons and vehicles and such. 8.5 because horrible optimized for PC.

9.0Fantastic

A great expansion to GTA IV with new characters, plots, and missions. The Ballad of Gay Tony also has features that were absent in GTA IV like parachuting.

7.0Good

Anyone who's seen me around on the site enough probably knows I think GTA 4 was way too bleak, too serious and just not enough fun for a GTA game. Credit where it's due Ballad of Gay Tony was pretty much made to fix that and it gives it a good shot. It brings back a lot of the crazier stuff from Vice City and San Andreas like tanks and skydiving, there's more over the top characters and the focus on glitz and living the high life takes away a lot of the bleakness. It's just an expansion pack so there's still the same annoying vehicle handling, easy to lose police and a lot of the other annoying mechanics but still, this is way better than GTA 4 itself.

8.0Great

These two DLC packs are as good as the original game, delivering new perspectives on the story, and new weapons and vehicles to play around with. However, this new content hasn't been balanced online sadly, so gunship bullying is what free roam games come to sometimes. It isn't too bad, but it makes it so that if given the choice between GTA4 and EFLC, you would choose 4. Of course, there is a Complete Edition containing it all, so that would be the best thing to go for, for the stories if nothing else.

9.5Classic!

I honestly think these episodes are better than GTA IV itself. They improved many gameplay elements while creating a more interesting storyline with a better tone and feel.

TLAD was great. The storyline brought back memories of San Andreas with it's gang-oriented setting. More enjoyable than GTA IV in many ways.

9.0Fantastic

When GTA EFLC was released in 2009, it contained the two GTA IV DLC's on one disc, helping bring in many more customers to the series who had previously missed out on the original GTA IV. GTA EFLC ramped up the fun in Liberty City, allowing the player to partake in bike races, drug wars and fly golden helicopters. This game helped unite GTA fans once again, bringing back much of the fun that made GTA SA successful while providing an interesting story that was cleverly interwoven with IV's story.

GTA stories at the length they should be. Four of these next time, instead of a 30-hour story that stops being interesting halfway through, Rockstar.
