  • Role-Playing > W-Style RPG
  • Costume Quest is a rollicking Adventure/Role-Playing game that unfolds on Halloween night across seemingly peaceful suburban neighborhoods, a mysterious village carnival, and a monster-infested shopping mall. Created by Double Fine's lead animator, Tasha Harris, the game follows the adventure of a group of young friends who must rid their neighborhood of monsters using only their wits, their bravery, and their home-made costumes. Players go door-to-door collecting candy, points, cards, battle stamps and quest assignments as they prepare themselves for Combat Mode-where they transform into larger-than-life versions of their costumes. Each costume that comes-to-life provides its own unique set of superpowers that players will need to battle Halloween's worst monsters.

Kid-friendly, yet fun for adults and overly enjoyable for just about everyone. Kids' kiddy quests on Halloween, in a lite-RPG that is guaranteed to give you a couple hours of fun.

Compact and funny RPG. Gets a bit repetitive in its quests and combat but the writing is so entertaining it doesn't bother.

In "Costume Quest" you play as one of the twins Wren and Reynold. When your sibling is kidnapped by candy-craving monsters on Halloween, you set out on a journey to rescue the little pest lest you be grounded by your parents! Roaming the neighborhood with your friends, you collect candy, fulfil quests and search for new costume materials. Because it's by virtue of your awesome costumes and their special powers that you defeat monsters in JRPG-ish, round-based combat! Considering the very simple and straightforward gameplay, it is a good thing that "Costume Quest" doesn't overstay its welcome and can be completed in just a few hours. A bit like candy then: Short and sweet.

Costume Quest. Ah, this little gem popped out of nowhere. I had never heard of it before. But, I liked the art style, and the trial wasn't too big, so I thought 'Let's give this one a shot.' It was so worth it. The characters were likeable. I prefer the fact they weren't given voice actors, as they probably couldn't have done a good enough job. The combat wasn't something I had tried before, except, perhaps, at a friend's house where I played his copy of Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time on my DS for a bit. The combat was challenging and refreshing from what I usually played. Especially since, when I screw up, it's my fault, not the game being cheap. The different costumes also added some extra flair which made this game shine thro

A short, charming turn-based rpg that has that Double Fine Productions silliness. While the mechanics are extremely simple, amassing a collection of costumes with great over the top in battle styles and different abilities, as well as the short nature of the game, keeps things from getting too repetitive. While a little more substantial game would have been cool, I like this little romp as it is.

A fun romp down memory lane that's just filled with all sorts of goodies. The characters, dialogue, and setting are where the game shines. It falls short as the turn-based combat gets a bit repetitive and it's a bit on the easy side. I do believe they sacrificed the difficulty in favor of a younger audience but that shouldn't cause you to pass up the game. It's easily in my top ten console downloadable titles that I've played.

This game is just awesome. Double Fine has found the perfect medium for their games and everyone needs to play them.

Great humour, beautiful art style, awesome Halloween theme and a good simple RPG game mechanic. Only let down is that battles can become quite repetitive.

Cute and funny. Kids can handle more-complicated combat in their RPGs, though. They still play Pokemon.
