Call of Duty: World at War

  • Call of Duty: World at WarBuy on Amazon - Copy URL
  • Developed by Treyarch (2008) on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC
  • Action > First-Person Shooter
  • Call of Duty: World at War is, like its predecessors, a straightforward military first-person shooter with authentic weaponry like the Thompson Sub Machine Gun or the Arisaka Rifle Type 99, and fairly linear but heavily scripted levels that put the player right in the middle of the action with several NPC-controlled team mates always on his side to aid him and add to the atmosphere. The objectives in these missions range from clearing houses from enemies to planting bombs or defend a position. And instead of using medipacks or something similar to heal himself up, the player just needs to get out of fire for a few seconds to regenerate to full health. New this time around is the co-op campaign for up to four players, allowing everyone to play through the whole single player together with friends.

I don't play and Call of Duty games that much, and frankly i don't enjoy the multiplayer. But what's really the golden lining of the cloud made of sh*t for me is the nazi zombie mode. With the 4 great vanilla maps and the amazing modded maps, this deserves a round of applause.

One of my favourites, good multiplayer, gripping campaign, awesome zombie mode and a central hubbub of activity with my friends online when we where playing we had loads of fun and felt united. But compared to many great games this paled in comparison, don't get me wrong it had the quality but not always the quantity or the new ideas. It felt a bit samey to be honest when other games are spouting new awesome ideas and better graphics included. However it still has a massive mansion sized place in my heart and if you ever see it for twenty pounds or less then its worth it. For it's amazing campaign and still active online community

With a compelling storyline and magnificent multiplayer, Call of Duty: World at War is the pinnacle of the Call of Duty franchise.

For another WWII FPS game that came out in the time where WWII FPS-es were coming out all over the place, the campaign is special because it followed a bunch of nobodies no one's ever heard of (mostly because they don't really exist) in this massive war, and did it well. I will forever remember it as one of the few games where you can blow off people's limbs in a satisfying fashion. The multiplayer was well executed in that all the newbies were packed together so you wouldn't have super-vet crushing someone who's never played the game before. You can also blow people's limbs off. Treyarch's then-revolutionary zombie mode blew my mind much like I blew zombie's heads off. This game is one of my favourites, and was an instant classic.

Good campaign, good multiplayer, and zombies is AWESOME. The campaign is good but it feels like it took a step down from CoD 4. Reznov is one of my favorite video game characters. HE IS AWESOME! The multiplayer is kinda boring but still fun. The zombies is what makes it my favorite CoD. Zombies is just fighting off hordes of zombies until you die, but it is awesome. Overall I think it is a good game and I recommend it if you like FPS games.

This was when it was still original, as well as, the introduction to the first Cod zombies. #17
